CHAPTER V: A Nation of Peace and Delight
“When the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana, the Lord made His will to Venerable Ananda as follows:
After my departure, the Dharma-Ending Age will come in which my disciples will leave the Dharma doctrines and practice unauthorized doctrines. They will refuse to practice the Precept–Contemplation–Result, but will continue to associate with wicked parties and to insult and disparage those who keep precepts and morality.
For that reason, the Dragon-Devas will become sad and leave, dignitaries and wealthy people will lose trust and respect in the Triple Gem of Buddhism[59], and the True Dharma will almost be destroyed. From then on, these monks and nuns will create more and more cruelty. Fortunately, there are other monks and nuns who know how to maintain tranquility in Dharma practice and preach Tathagata’s Dharma doctrines to benefit all living beings. At that time, there will also be kings, dignitaries, wealthy people, laypeople, and good and reliable people who will begin to mourn for the True Dharma of Buddha. They will worship the places of the Triple Gem of Buddhism, respectfully making offerings and giving regard and praise, and doing their best to protect in order to restore its prosperity. These are the Bodhisattvas who are born with great individual vows to maintain the Buddha’s Dharma and give benefits to living beings.”

That’s why Reverend Tịnh Vương, incarnating Lord Maitreya, knew that for the opening of Tao Dharma in the Dharma-Ending Age, the living beings who seek liberation through knowing, seeing, and solving must hold trust, obedience, and respect toward their leader, in order to be completely salvaged and obtain the result. As for monks and nuns in the Dharma-Ending Age, Lord Maitreya allowed them to be laypeople, aiming to salvage all equally and using secular life to teach and expound Dharma practice, so they are tranquil at present.
During the time of The Founding Master, one day while meditating, Venerable Ananda saw a huge and imposing elephant, who was standing and suddenly collapsed. Numberless maggots flowed out of its body, causing it to disintegrate. But later, the elephant shook itself and stood up, and all the maggots fell off and disappeared, and the elephant became as huge and imposing as before. Venerable Ananda was startled and repectfully asked The Founding Master about the events. The Lord taught:
The collapsed elephant and countless maggots represent the fact that later in the Dharma-Ending Age, my children, monks and nuns who renounce their families, will not practice Self-Nature. Therefore, True Dharma will be denigrated and become degenerate Dharma. When the elephant shook itself and stood up imposingly and all the maggots disappeared, it means that later, laypeople will stand up to rebuild the True Dharma.
